Have the kids outgrown their gumboots again? Don’t throw them away, repurpose them into this DIY herb garden.

You will need:

  • Herb plants such as mint or basil
  • One gumboot per plant
  • Potting mix
  • Spade
  • Scissors
  • Watering can filled with water

How to make it

  1. Ask mum or dad to poke a few holes in the soles of the gumboots with the scissors for drainage.
  2. Using the spade, fill the gumboot with the potting mix until it is mostly full.
  3. Make a small hole in the soil.
  4. Plant one of your herbs into the soil.
  5. Water your herbs with some water, and place your garden in a sunny spot.
  6. Repeat with as many herbs as you like!
