One life skill that we can develop to help manage stress in our lives and in those of our family is mindfulness. Mindfulness can increase awareness of negative emotional states, improve our attention and help prevent the onset of mental health issues.
The IGA Family Program Mindful Matters uses tools developed by renowned not-for-profit organisation Smiling Mind to provide our members with a pre-emptive and proactive mental health and wellbeing program dedicated to mindfulness and meditation.
So what exactly is mindfulness? Mindfulness is a state of being fully awake to life! It’s about focusing attention on the here and now, rather than thinking about the past or worrying about the future. It’s not about clearing our minds, but rather observing life as it unfolds without analysis or judgment.
